Greetings.

My name is Sam King and I am honored to be the current president of the Fort
Worden Kitemaker’s Conference. Together with a board of dedicated volunteers we
hold an annual three-day kite making workshop at Fort Worden State Park and
Conference Center in beautiful Port Townsend, Washington (the state) USA.
2012 will mark the 30th such gathering of kite makers from across the United
States joined by kite friends from around the globe. Each year we strive to
provide a diverse slate of classes taught by the world’s best kite makers and
instructors. There is something here for everyone.
Attendees often remark that they learn as much during the after hours gatherings
as they did in the classroom. As a group, we are committed to sharing kite
knowledge and advancing education as it relates to kiting. Aside from the
amazing kites and banners, the conference is an opportunity to learn, share,
spend time with friends, and make new ones. For me, what initially began as an
interest in kites has become increasingly more about spending time with the
people at the other end of the kite string, although the kites are still pretty
cool. ☺
Please take a look around our web page. Consider joining us for next year’s
conference and if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a note at
president@kitemakers.org. I’ll do my best to track down an answer for you.
Until we can share a piece of sky, I wish you pleasant winds friend,
Sam
